Help make the 2021 NASPA Virtual Annual Conference a huge success by serving your association as a volunteer!

Each year the NASPA Annual Conference runs on the hard work and dedication of the hundreds of individuals who volunteer their time and energy.

Volunteer slots are for 2021 NASPA Virtual Conference registrants only. All volunteers will receive bonus NASPA Challenge points during the event which enable you to earn prizes!

Volunteer Opportunities

Below is a list of available volunteer opportunities. When you sign up for a shift, please note that you may be asked to participate in any of the activities listed under the header. 

Specific instructions, as well as access links to your shifts, will be provided during the week of the event. 

Please note, the conference schedule is listed in Eastern Time.

room help
 

Room/Session Host: Joins the session 20 minutes before the beginning of the session. The host facilitates and manages break-out sessions and ensures that presenters have the necessary information to participate; addresses any technical glitches or problems that may arise during the session or elevate to Tech Support; enable “start broadcast” or “record to cloud” if session is being recorded; may also assume Session Helper responsibilities.
Time commitment - the length of the session and 20 minutes beforehand

Session Helper: Assists room host and/or presenter by monitoring the chat room and elevating relevant attendee questions to send to event moderator (or presenter) for response; answers general attendee questions, and shares references and documents from the event in real-time; also acts as timekeeper and cue presenter(s) when close to end.

Chat Room Monitor: Oversees a session chat room and answers attendee questions, provides feedback, and shares references and documents from the event in real-time. The presenter of the session will provide all links and documents to share.

Notetaker: Serves as the scribe for an event, session, or meeting. takes detailed notes from presentations throughout the event (including quotes from speakers) to be used for event recaps, social media content, and/or marketing materials. Requires excellent writing/note taking skills and the ability to distinguish what is absolutely essential  to capture.

social engagement
 

Experience Volunteer: Keeps attendees actively engaged (by interacting with attendees, making general housekeeping announcements, adding networking tips, etc.) and feeling more comfortable and connected to the experience. Serves as a “hype” person in engagement activities (forums, trivia nights, or other engagement activities) and ensures participants are having a good time; keeps energy going, organically introduces and responds to prompts, etc. 
Time commitment - varies, based on activity

Content Weaver: Observes various sessions, keynotes, forums, activities, etc. taking notes (including quotes from speakers) to be used for event recaps, social media content, and/or marketing materials. At the end of each day, ability to “weave” together the key concepts from the day and provide important takeaways and practical tips from various areas visited.

Social Media Monitor: Monitors social media platforms (Twitter/FB/IG/LinkedIn) and/or live streams during the event and is responsible for sharing content, engaging with comments, posing questions, etc; can also promote the event and/or post pertinent information leading up to the event.
