2023 NASPA Annual Conference

How to Engage in #NASPA23

 |   |

NAPSA family – the conference is coming! Whether you are attending in Boston or virtually, the 2023 NASPA Annual Conference is promising to be an exciting and engaging event.

As we work on the finishing touches for programming and schedules, now is the time to start thinking about how you would like to engage in the conference. If you are attending for the first time, or if this is your billionth NASPA event, there’s a place for you to plug in and support your colleagues and professional family.

The subcommittee focused on Engagement & Volunteers have identified so many ways to help you connect, recharge, and experience the NASPA Annual Conference in the way that serves you best. Take a look at the great work of our team below and start thinking, “How can I engage?”

The #NASPA23 Discord server allows both place-based and virtual attendees to engage with each other on a range of topics. These topics include conference information and engagement, cultural communities, health and wellness, fun and games, as well as networking and professional development. If your topic of choice isn’t listed, do not fret! Attendees can start their own channels to further meet and engage with other conference attendees on topics that most interest them, whether related to the field of student affairs or just for fun. Better yet, the ways to engage on Discord are endless. You can text and voice chat, send GIFs, stickers, emojis, and more.

Our Engagement Lounges promise to provide space to Recharge, Network, and Get Active. Whatever you’re looking to do and however you like to engage, there’s an option for you. These spaces will host opportunities to meet with a mentor and have a quiet conversation. You will be able to sit and relax or catch up on focused work. You can also get together with a group of your closest NASPA family members and take a family photo. Planning is still underway, and more opportunities will be announced as we get closer to April!

First-time Attendees (FTA) are always at the heart of the NASPA conference experience. We are thinking through a learning framework that will build on previous years’ successful programming efforts. This FTA track of engagement opportunities will help you identify and connect to others and begin to form your own NASPA family. For virtual attendees, we’ve got you covered and will have connection opportunities just for you via Discord!

To make all these opportunities possible, we need volunteers. The Conference Leadership Committee is working hard to outline meaningful volunteer roles that will help enhance the NASPA conference experience for both yourself and others. We will need you to step in and show up! Watch for a call for volunteers in the coming weeks.
