Student Athletes, Student Affairs, and the Clippers & Celtics - All at the STAPLES Center
Welcome to L.A., home of multiple professional and collegiate sports teams and an opportunity to learn more about what that experience is like, and have valuable information/tools you may be able to take back with you.
Throughout the country, at many of our institutions, the student-athlete is often overlooked by our profession. There are the typical support services, (counseling centers, academic resource centers), but do we really know or have a grasp of what it’s like to be a student-athlete? Do we have a solid grasp of the issues they, as student-athletes transitioning from high school to college, and in their minds, from college to the professional ranks, live and often struggle with? What and how can we better support this population?
NASPA is offering a special 100th Anniversary opportunity to see renowned Sports Psychologist and SoCal native, Dr. William D. Parham, speak at the STAPLES Center! This opportunity also includes a ticket to see the L.A. Clippers take on the Boston Celtics that evening. Participants will automatically be entered into a drawing where 20 lucky individuals will win the chance to tour the STAPLES Center.
Monday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m.
Dr. Parham's session "Transitions: Discovering Who You Already Are" will be from 2:00 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. in the City View Terrace room within the STAPLES Center.
Monday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m.
