Welcome to Boston: Sunday Night Opening Reception
Boston. Beantown. Athens of America. The unceded lands of the Indigenous Massachusetts Tribe, specifically the Massachusett, Mashpee Wampanoag.
Those are the names of Boston and the sovereignty of indigenous communities whose land we live and work on. As we prepare to convene in Boston for the 2023 NASPA Annual Conference, we must acknowledge the origins of this land and the indigenous communities who are resilient, surviving, and thriving. This acknowledgement is in grief and exaltation as we honor and respect this land and its original homesteaders.
We look forward to welcoming you to Boston in April 2023. The Boston Experience Subcommittee has been hard at work preparing to host and offer all that Boston has to offer. As we build the experience in collaboration with the full 2023 Conference Leadership Committee, we had a few guiding thoughts:
- We want to acknowledge the past, present, and future communities of Boston.
- We want to share all of Boston and the neighborhoods that make it unique and vibrant.
- We want to share the deep connection of education within Boston and Massachusetts.
- We want to honor the significant impact of the pandemic on our students, faculty, staff, and the profession as a whole.
With these guiding thoughts in mind, the Boston Experience Committee is building a Sunday Night Opening Reception that meets all our goals. We hope you will join us in Boston on the evening of April 2 to kick off the conference with Student Affairs Strong: A Wicked Good Time! This opening night event will highlight Boston students and institutions through performance, and share both the history and the present of Boston neighborhoods.
As you plan your trip to Boston, be sure to keep up with our blogs and website updates so that you can make the most of your trip. We cannot not wait to meet you in Boston!
