SESSION FULL: Exploring Influences of Implicit Bias in Our Work and Lives
In this interactive session, participants will explore the concept of implicit bias using an interdisciplinary framework to discuss schemas, social cognition, and types of implicit biases. They will explore prevalence of implicit bias in everyday interactions while understanding the continuum of impacts resulting from unchecked bias, specifically features-based implicit bias, bias-based discrimination (derivative racial discrimination, stereotype threat, social identity threat), and implicit dehumanization. Participants will explore evidence-based strategies to recognize and address implicit bias at personal, institutional, and systemic levels.
