Making Our Practice More Focused on the Distance Learner
Online students are one of the fastest growing student populations across higher education, with nearly 32% of students taking at least one online course and 15% studying entirely online (Seaman, Allen, & Seamen, 2018). With these numbers continuing to rise, it is imperative that student affairs professionals consider the ways their services and communication can better align with distance learners' needs. In this session, the presenter will share research and strategies for greater inclusion of the online student population. Attendees will then reflect upon their own programs and services, and consider ways they can be adapted to meet online learners' needs.
