Navigating the Future of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Efforts: Emerging Insights from National Conversations 03/17/2025 8:30-9:45 AM MCCNO 224

This session will highlight findings and recommendations from three intentionally designed convenings that collected critical insights to inform future considerations and interventions specific to the future of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. NADOHE, in partnership with AAC&U, convened over 400 students to understand viewpoints on how/if our current democracy is attentive to the needs of all. The second convening offered over 250 senior diversity leaders the opportunity to gather, reflect, plan, and consider restorative approaches for healing in response to the dismantling of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. The final event convened 100 multi-sector and higher education executive leaders for a dialogue on the centrality of diversity, equity, and inclusion to the future of higher education and the public good. Presenters will engage participants in discussions of next steps and potential partnerships to advance the mission, vision, and value of postsecondary education.

Presenters:

Paulette Granberry Russell, JD President & CEO, NADOHE

Tia Brown McNair, Ed.D.  Partner, Sova & Senior Consultant, AAC&U

NASPActs: Healing Rooted in Community: A Restorative Art Project  3/17/2025 10:00 AM-12:00 PM Engagement Lounge, MCCNO Exhibit Hall B2-1

In the dynamic and fast-paced world of student affairs, the emotional labor and deep commitment we invest often go unnoticed. NASPActs invites professionals to pause, reflect, and connect through art, storytelling, and shared experiences. This space provides an opportunity for us to honor the importance of our work and its lasting impact.

Participants are encouraged to contribute their personal reflections, affirmations, and creative expressions to the "We Matter" art display. This collective installation will evolve into a living testament of resilience, care, and the profound influence we have on our communities.

Following the conference, the display will travel to local institutions, where it will continue to grow and be showcased within Student Affairs divisions. Each stop will allow the art to expand with new voices, ensuring that the project remains a dynamic and evolving expression of our shared experiences.

Through this project, we create space for recognition and renewal, providing a traveling reminder that our work is not invisible—that we, as student affairs professionals, matter.
